Etiology
- risk factors:
Physical examination
- combined 90 degrees of flexion, adduction & internal rotation of the hip elicits groin pain; other maneuvers do not result in pain
- full range of motion
Clinical manifestations
- subacute anterior groin pain in the absence of trauma in a healthy athlete Radiography:
- hip X-ray
- may be normal or show evidence of hip dysplasia
- MRI of hip with intra-articular gadolinium
- hip X-ray
Complications
- may predispose patients to early osteoarthritis
Management
- relative rest, NSAIDs, physical therapy
- intra-articular glucocorticoid if conservative management fails
- arthroscopic debridement & surgical repair
