Indications
- targeted & reversible blocking of peripheral nerve activity for treating pain
Mechanism of action
- soft, miniaturized, implantable cooler temporarily blocks nerve conduction using a liquid-to-gas phase transition as the cooling mechanism
- nerve cuff with a microfluidic channel carrying a microliter volume of bioinert coolant
- thermal thin-film sensor integrated within the cuff enables temperature monitoring in real time, enabling closed-loop control.
- the nerve block by the coolant prevents afferent tramsmission of pain signals[1]
