tonic seizure

Etiology

• patients with neurologic developmental disabilities
• epilepsy with multiple seizure types

Clinical manifestations

• short in duration (a few seconds)
• generalized muscle rigidity
• consciousness may or may not be lost
• generally painful if consciousness is maintained
• falls are common
