Etiology
- old age
- can be enhanced in hydroxychloroquine toxicity
Pathology
- line of iron deposition within the lower corneal epithelium
- formation of the line may depend on rate of tear secretion
Clinical manifestations
- within the lower corna
- ~0.5 mm in thickness
- 1-2 mm long
- generally horizontal
- may trend downward in the middle
Management
- no treatment indicated
