Indications

bioengioneering can produce bioidentical blood vessels for shunts & other purposes^[1]
- creation of a biodegradable mesh cylinder, seeded with human vascular cells, placed in a bioreactor where culture media could be pulsed through it constantly
- and extracellular matrix with strong mechanical properties gradually forms, replacing the biodegradable cylinder
- the human vascular cells that had created the matrix are destroyed (immunologically incompatible with recipient)
- resulting acellular cylinders were placed in patients for various purposes (dialysis. shunts)
