Procedure
- age >= 50 years
- heart rate >= 100/minute
- SaO2 < 95% on room air
- hemoptysis
- exogenous estrogen use
- prior venous thromboembolism
- trauma or surgery within the previous 4 weeks
- unilateral lower extremity swelling
Interpretation
- a score of zero rules out pulmonary embolism
Management
- patients with a PERC score of zero do NOT need plasma D-dimer testing or imaging[1]
