Introduction
3-armed ramdomized study done in Europe
318 patients, 88% women, with knee osteoarthritis
Treatment for 6 months
- Glucosamine sulfate 1500 mg/day
- acetaminophen 1000 mg TID
- placebo
Primary outcome was changes in Lequesne index at 6 months
Results:
- glucosamine superior to placebo
- acetaminophen marginally better than placebo
