Introduction
Tradename: ChiRhoStim
Indications
- diagnosis of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZE syndrome) & pancreatic exocrine disease
- hepatobiliary diseases such as obstructive jaundice
Dosage
- pancreatic function: 1 CU/kg slow IV injection over 1 min
- ZE syndrome: 2 CU/kg slow IV injection over 1 min
Powder for injection: 75 CU (10 mL).
Adverse effects
- uncommon (< 1%)
- fainting, venous spasm, hypersensitivity
Mechanism of action
- stimulates secretion of bicarbonate-rich pancreatic fluid
