Rm(t) = -(1/n) x dn/dt = Ro x e (exp at) Rm(t) is the mortality rate at time (or age) t n is the number of survivors at time t Ro is the mortality rate at time = 0 a is a species-dependent rate constant Parameters of the Gompertz equation may be determined from survival curves.
