A process focusing on examining a system's processes & eliminating non-value added activities (waste).

Indications

• useful for reducing turnaround times & waiting times

Procedure

• uses value stream mapping that graphically displays steps of a process & the time required for each step
• this allows for identification of bottleneck(s) in a process, but does not reconcile the importance of individual steps
