Indications
- diminishing sense of dyspnea of breathlessness without sedation [1.2]
Clinical significance
- dyspnea at the end-of-life can be mitigated by fan therapy[1][2]
- cool air moving across the face from a fan or open window stimulates the maxillary nerve (cranial nerve V-2) which has a central inhibitory effect on the sensation of breathlessness[1][2]
