Indications
- public cord blood banks preferred over private banks,
- public banking is highly regulated, costs nothing for the donor & serves the entire world rather than a single family
Contraindications
- use of autologous stored cord blood for treatment of childhood leukemia*[1]
- no proven value for regenerative medicine[1]
* cord blood would have premalignant leukocytes
