• evaluation of porphyria

Reference interval

• < 1 mg/day (< 4.4 umol/day)

Clinical significance

• aminolevulinate & porphobilinogen are increased in urine of patients with acute intermittent porphyria, & to a lesser extent in hereditary coproporphyria & during acute attacks of variegate porphyria
