Indications
- unexplained acute hepatitis or acute liver failure
- rule out hepatitis A
Clinical significance
- earliest serological evidence of hepatitis A
- develops 2-3 weeks after initial infection
- develops prior to elevations in serum ALT & serum AST
- IgM may persist for 4-6 months
