Indications
- obstructive sleep apnea in patients who fail CPAP
Procedure
- implanted neurostimulation device
- device is implanted in the upper chest,
- it senses breathing patterns, & mildly stimulates airway muscles, keeping the airway open
- device is turned on & off using a handheld remote control
Mechanism of action
- stimulates hypoglossal nerve
