Introduction

An artificial passage (shunt) from the lumbar subarachnoid space into the peritoneum or pleura.

Indications

• hydrocephalus
  • increased intracranial pressure
  • normal pressure hydrocephalus

* after risk of brainstem herniation is ruled out
