Uses

  • cosmetics
  • fungicide, can be used for controlling mildew
  • edible, but non-caloric & indigestible

Epidemiology

  • produced in the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba), a shrub native to southern Arizona, southern California, & northwestern Mexico
  • Jojoba oil comprises ~50% of the jojoba seed by weight
