Etiology
- phrenic nerve paralysis
- splinting secondary to:
- subpulmonic pleural effusion* - fluid between the base of the lung & the diaphragm elevates the base of the lung simulating elevation of the diaphragm
* Not true elevation of the hemidiaphragm, but appears to be radiographically
