• cystectomy for bladder cancer

Procedure

• includes:
  • ureteroenterostomy
    • ureteralileal conduit
    • ureterosigmoidostomy
    • ureterocolon conduit

Complications

• stomal stenosis*
  • hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis

* treated by draining the ileal conduit & correcting the stenosis

• initial step: place a foley catheter in the stoma
