Specimen
- source
- pleural fluid
- lung tissue (biopsy)
- bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL)
- bronchial biopsy
- minimum volume:
- 1 mL of fluid
- any size of tissue (preferably > 0.5 g)
Notes
- rapid transport to the laboratory is required
