Etiology

• Corynebacterium tenuis

Epidemiology

• may be associated with contact with stray cats

Pathology

• superficial bacterial colonization of the hair shafts in areas on skin containing sweat glands (axilla, groin)

Clinical manifestations

• yellow, orange, black or red granular nodules, coatings, concretions that stick to the hair shaft
• asymptomatic

Management

• shave affected hair
• antiperspirant deodorant
