Introduction
Light emission from relaxation of a singlet excited state to a singlet ground state. Lifetime of the excited state is typically 10E-09 to 10E-06 seconds. No splitting of electron energies result with application of a magnetic field.
The emitted radiation is of a longer wavelength radiation than that absorbed, continuing only as long as the incident radiation is present.
Distinguish from phosphorescence.
