Introduction
A tool to facilitate effective health interviews & care planning in cross cultural settings. Provides a framework to obtain information & negotiate a care plan within 15 minutes.
Procedure
- Explanation:
- explanation of the problem in the patients own words
- Treatments:
- past treatments, including alternative medicine
- Healers:
- other healers involved in the patient's care
- other healthcare providers
- alternative medicine practitioners
- other healers involved in the patient's care
- Negotiate:
- negotiate with patient & caregiver(s) as to which treatments the patient will accept & participate in
- Intervene
- put together a care plan that is acceptable to both the patient (& caregiver) & provider
- Collaborate:
- build a trusting provider-patient relationship
- incorporate caregiver(s) into the alliance
- Spirtuality:
- inquire about spiritual beliefs, & how these may impact healthcare preferences
