- prepartum stroke incidence 0.02%
- postpartum stroke incidence 0.02%
- increased risk of stroke during pregnancy
- women age 12-24
- 14 per 100,000 pregnant or postpartum women
- 6 per 100,000 nonpregnant women
- women age 25-34
- 21 per 100,000 pregnant or postpartum women
- 14 per 100,000 nonpregnant women
- women >= 35 years of age: no increased risk for pregnancy- associated stroke[2]
- women age 12-24
