Indications
- rule out Legionellosis (Legionnaire's disease)
Clinical significance
- sensitivity: 60%--80%; specificity: >99% for Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1
- does not detect other Legionella strains[2]
- can remain positive for long periods after resolution of infection[2]
- sensitivity 62.5%; false negatives 37.5%[3]
