grill brush bristle ingestion

Pathology

• unintentional ingestion of wire bristles from grill-cleaning brushes may result from eating grilled meat (in which bristles presumably had become embedded)

Clinical manifestations

• severe odynophagia if bristles lodge in throat or eosphagus
• severe abdominal pain if bristles loadge below diaphram

Radiology

• plain radiograph
• computed tomography

Management

• laryngoscopy
• colonoscopy
• abdominal surgery
