Etiology
- multiple myeloma, paraproteinemia, leukemia, lymphoma
- diffuse (neck, face, upper trunk, arms)
- homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia
- intertriginous areas
- dysbetalipoproteinemia
Clinical manifestations
- flat, yellow plaques
- most commonly involve skin folds
- - image of palmar xanthomas[2]
Laboratory
- lipid panel
- may be normal with diffuse form associated with lymphoid neoplasm
- LDL cholesterol elevated with dyslipidemia
- serum triglycerides may be elevated with dysbetalipoproteinemia
