Pathology
- bilateral anterior corneal dystrophy
- abnormal, redundant basement membrane
- intraepithelial lacunae filled with cellular debris
Genetics
- usually is not considered to be inherited; however, families with autosomal dominant inheritance have been identified
- associated with defects in TGFBI
Diagnostic procedures
- slit-lamp examination
- grayish epithelial fingerprint lines
- geographic map-like lines, & dots (or microcysts)
