Neosartorya udagawae (Aspergillus udagawae)

Etiology

• chronic granulomatous disease appears to be risk factor

Epidemiology

• isolated from plantation soil in Brazil

Pathology

• cause of invasvive aspergillosis (10-12%)
• infection may spread across anatomic planes to the mediastinum & contralateral lung (unusual with A fumigatus)

Management

• widespread antifungal resistance
• more resistant than A fumigatus to
  • amphotericin B
  • itraconazole
  • voriconazole
