Classification

  • class 1
    • uncompromised
    • good prognosis
  • class 2
  • class 3:
    • moderate-marked limitation in physical activity
    • 3A: symptoms less with ordinary activity
    • 3B: symptoms with minimal exertion
    • prognosis fair with therapy
  • class 4
    • severely compromised
    • unable to perform any physical activity without symptoms
    • prognosis guarded despite therapy
    • a hospice qualifying diagnosis if optimally medically managed
