• assessment of hearing loss

Procedure

• involves a set of 10 synthetic sentences
• sentences used in this test were constructed so that each successive group of 3 words in a sentence is itself meaningful but the entire sentence is not
• the sentences are deemed insufficiently challenging in a quiet environment; thus a recommendation has been made that sentences be administered in noise at an equal intensity to the signal
