STarT Back Screening Tool

Indications

• 9 item screening tool to classify patients with low back pain into 1 of 3 subgroups:
  • low risk
  • medium risk
  • high risk

Procedure

• questions pertain to the past 2 weeks

• back pain has spread down legs
• shoulder pain &/or neck pain
• walking limited to short distances due to back pain
• dressing oneself difficult due to back pain
• feeling unsafe to be physically active
• worrying
• helplessness, discouragement
• anhedonia
• rating of functionality
