Introduction
Represents the number of apneic or hypopneic episodes during one hour of sleep.
- an apnea-hypopnea index of > 5 is consistent with a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea.
- an index of 5-14 suggests mild obstructive sleep apnea.
- an index of 15-30 suggests moderate obstructive sleep apnea.
- an index of > 30 suggests severe obstructive sleep apnea.[1]
