adolescents & young adults
Clinical manifestations
- fever
- poorly localized buttocks pain
- inability to bear weight in an adolescent
- involvement of the closely passing lumbar plexus
- urinary difficulties
- abdominal distension
- pain caused by pelvic pressure
- tenderness over the sacroiliac joint
Laboratory
Radiology
- Tc 99 m bone scan may be normal
- single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)
