Introduction
Effect of 3 g of niacin/day on diabetics:
- increase in HDL cholesterol of 10 mg/dL
- decrease in LDL cholesterol of 17 mg/dL
- decrease in triglycerides of 74 mg/dL
- increase in HgbA1c of 0.4%
- transient increase in serum glucose
