Indications
- osteoarthritis (viscosupplementation) {no benefit[2][4]} {minimal benefit[3]}
Contraindications
- 3 injections may provide lubrication to joint but not rapid pain relief
Dosage
- Hyalgan: 5 intra-articular injections over 4 weeks
- Hylan G-F: 3 intra-articular injections over 2 weeks
Notes
- 15% of patients who undergo total knee arthroplasty receive at least one hyaluronate gel knee injection[5]
- mean number of injections/patients = 3.6
