Introduction
Aluminum hydroxide & magnesium carbonate are active ingredients in many Gaviscon products.
Alginic acid is also an ingredient in many Gaviscon products.
Dosage
- aluminum hydroxide: 160 mg
- magnesium carbonate: 105 mg
Mechanism of action
- creates a protective layer over the stomach
- alginate raft: if Gaviscon contains alginate, forms a foamy, near-neutral pH raft that floats on top of stomach contents.
