Notes

  • use of genomics &/or proteomics is reshaping personalized medicine
  • efforts to treat cancer based chromosomal aberrations (gene mutations, gene deletions, chromosomal translocations) rather than cancer type[3]
  • computer simulations estimating effect of improved screening & risk prediction to treat people at risk for common conditions is predicated on the assumptions that aggressive treatment will improve outcomes in high-risk individuals & that identification of high-risk individuals will motivate them to change their lifesytles[4]
