Tc-99m labeled erythrocyte scan

Indications

• gastrointestinal bleeding when the source of bleeding is not easily identified

Procedure

• Tc-99 labeled erythrocytes are infused into the patient with subsequent imaging to identified loss of labeled erythrocytes from the vascular into the GI tract
