Pathology

• keratinizing disorder
• sensorineural deafness
• spiky hyperkeratosis affecting the entire skin

Genetics

• autosomal-dominant
• associated with defects in GJB2

Clinical manifestations

• HID syndrome differa from the similar KID syndrome in the extent & time of occurrence of skin symptoms & the severity of the associated keratitis
