- defective insulin receptor (genetic) {type A}
- circulating autoantibodies against the insulin receptor {type B}
Genetics
- associated with defects in insulin receptor (INSR) {type A}
Clinical manifestations
- severe insulin resistance (manifested by marked hyperinsulinemia & a failure to respond to exogenous insulin)
- acanthosis nigricans
- ovarian hyperandrogenism in adolescent female subjects
- women frequently present with
