Introduction
To establish the specificity of a microorganism to cause human disease, the following criteria must be met.
- it must be present in all cases of the disease
- inoculations of pure cultures must produce disease in animals
- from these innoculated animals, the microorganism must be obtained & propagated in pure cultures
