bundle of His (atrioventricular {AV} bundle)

Function

• ooriginates at the AV node & enters the interventricular septum where it divides into a right bundle branch & left bundle branch which propagate conduction (via Purkinje system) to the right & left ventricles, respectively.

Pathology

• heart block involving the His bundle is associated with bilateral bundle branch block
