ligament of head of femur (ligamentum capitis femoris, round ligament of femur)

Introduction

A flattened ligament that passes from the fovea in the head of the femur to the borders of the acetabular notch.

Function

• the ligament does NOT contribute to integrity or control movement of the hip joint.
