Introduction

Nerve fibers arising in the inferior olivary nucleus of the medulla synapsing on proximal Purkinje cell dendrites in the cerebellar cortex.

Innervation

• input of climbing fibers is excitatory
• each climbing fiber synapses on 1-10 Purkinje cells & each Purkinje cell receives input from only one climbing fiber
