Introduction
A coiled, tubular sweat gland that occurs on almost all parts of the body, distinguished from apocrine glands.
Function
- release of salt & water for temperature regulation through evaporation
- sweat glands operate as low-electric-charge (low-Q) antennae
- human skin contains approximately 3x106 eccrine sweat glands, each gland is connected to the skin surface by a helical sweat duct[1]
- the skin organ in its entirety could function as an array of helical antennae that operate in the extremely high frequency range (includes portions of the broadband used for Internet access)
