Facial muscle of the nose.
Origin
maxilla superior to the central incisor
Insertion
mobile part of the nasal septum
Action
- works with alar (dilator) part of the nasalis muscle to widen the nares during deep inspiration
- depresses nasal septum
Innervation
buccal branch of the facial nerve (CN VII)
