• soleal line & posterior surface of tibia
• the head & shaft of the fibula between the medial crest & interosseous border
• posterior surface of the interosseous membrane

Insertion

• navicular, 3 cuneiform, cuboid & 2nd, 3rd & 4th metatarsals

Action

plantar flexion & inversion of foot

Innervation

tibial nerve
