Introduction
Modified sebaceous glands embedded in the tarsal plate.
The tarsal glands open on the margins of the eyelid.
Pathology
- plugging of the tarsal glands leads to blepharitis
- meibomian gland dysfunction is a major cause of evaporative dry eye[3]
