Introduction

12 molars total, 6 maxillary (upper), 6 mandibular (lower). There are 3 on each upper & lower side.

Each upper molar has 3 roots; each lower molar has 2 roots.

The roots of the upper 3 molars almost penetrate the maxillary sinus.
